EL AL Fleet – Historic – Boeing 747-400s

In each fleet list ‘MSN’ refers to the Manufacturer’s Serial Number, and ‘LN’ refers to the production Line Number.

Copyright to each photo in the fleet lists belongs to the respective photographers noted. When a photographer’s name is followed by a parenthetical reference, that refers to the applicable license to publish. All such licensed photos are taken from the Wikimedia Commons website ‘Aircraft registered in Israel’ and have been resized for purposes of this site. The reference ‘CC-BY-SA’ refers to a ‘Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike’ license, and the number following it refers to the version of such license.

747-458. MSN 26056/LN 1032. First flight 18 May 1994. Delivered to EL AL 27 May 1994, fleet #202, named ‘Haifa’. Withdrawn from use and stored, 1 November 2019.

747-458. MSN 27915/LN 1062. First flight 15 May 1995. Delivered to EL AL 31 May 1995, fleet #203, named ‘Beer Sheva’. Operated last EL AL 747 flight, Rome to Tel Aviv, 3 November 2019, and then withdrawn from use and stored at Ben-Gurion Airport.

747-458. MSN 29328/LN 1215. First flight 7 May 1999. Delivered to EL AL 24 May 1999, fleet #204, named ‘Jerusalem’. Leased to TAT Nigeria 14 November 2009. Returned to EL AL 20 February 2010. Withdrawn from use and stored, 15 September 2019.

747-412.  Delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SPB in 1994.  Acquired by EL AL and arrived in Israel 28 October 2008. Fleet #205, named ‘Rishon leTsion’.  Withdrawn from use upon completing last flight on 28 December 2017, and broken up soon thereafter at Ben-Gurion Airport.

747-412F.  MSN 26563/LN 1036. First delivered to Singapore Airlines Cargo as 9V-SFA, 5 August 1994.  Delivered to EL AL April 2010 under lease from Bank of America Leasing (Ireland) Co.  Fleet #207, named ‘Hoopoe’. Withdrawn from use 1 July 2019. Stored at Pinal Airpark, Marana, Arizona, 24 July 2019. Registered N265BR to Blackrock, 31 January 2020.

747-412. MSN 26555/LN 1075. First delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SPH, March 1996, then to Pullmantur Air as EC-LGL, May 2010.  Delivered to EL AL under lease from R.B. Leasing, February 2011, fleet #208, named ‘Ashdod’.  Last flight, and withdrawn from use and stored at Tel Aviv, 13 June 2017. Was due for a ‘D’ check but this proved uneconomical due to the intended retirement of the entire 747-400 fleet and replacement by 787s.  Broken up at Ben-Gurion Airport, May 2018.

747-412. MSN 27132/LN 955. First flight 22 December 1992. Registered 9V-SMQ, and delivered to Singapore Airlines 30 January 1993. Acquired by EL AL and registered 4X-ELS, 18 February 2005. Withdrawn from use and stored at Ben-Gurion Airport 27 Sept. 2006. Transferred to Cathay Pacific Airways 14 March 2007 and registered B-HKT. Stored at Victorville, California, 21 October 2016.
